Travel Grants

The IEEE Photonics Society established student travel grant programs to encourage student participation at the IEEE Summer Topicals Meeting Series (IEEE SUM).

The IEEE Photonics Society is awarding a select number of student members and members of the IEEE Women in Photonics program with $2,500 USD grants each. The grant funds are intended to be used for travel, lodging expenses and registration to the conference.

Recipients from developing nations may receive a complimentary registration upon review. 

Deadline to apply: Thursday, April 30, 2020

Student & Young Professionals Travel Grants

An applicant should be:

  • A full time, degree seeking student, i.e. undergrad, graduate, post-doc, etc., or early career professional up to 15 years post first degree;
  • An IEEE Photonics Society Member;
  • Sponsored by an advisor, professor, mentor or direct supervisor.

IEEE Women in Photonics Travel Grants

The IEEE Women in Photonics initiative established this travel grants program to support the career growth of its women members. An applicant of this grant program should be:

  • A woman student, i.e. undergrad, graduate, post-doc, etc., early career professional, and/or volunteer for the IEEE Women in Photonics program;
  • Gender minorities and allies may also apply if they are active volunteers supporting the IEEE Women in Photonics initiative;
  • An IEEE Photonics Society Member and sponsored by an advisor, professor, mentor or direct supervisor.
